Thank you for running. Having worked (hard) in your campaign, I have gained an appreciation of the stamina, the perseverance, and the faith that campaigning must take. Your expression of your world view has been inspiring, and it has resonated with the deepest desires I hold for our country and our society. I have devoted time, effort, and money toward your selection as our country's leader.
We have elected you, and I congratulate you.
But this is not an award. It is a sentence of community service. You are entrusted with the direction of our republic, and your job has just begun. You have promised us a LOT, and you must deliver. We are willing to give what the task requires. We are ready. Your national network of activists is on point. We (the communities of support who have had your back for the last 21 months) are ready to work for what is next.
It will not be easy. I do not envy you your obligation. It will be difficult. But there are those of us who are working now and will be ready to do what it takes to make real the dreams you are promising us. Health Care. End the war. Secure our financial future. End veterans' poverty. Make the United States the beacon of hope that it once represented.
Yes we can.
To the cynics: YES, we can.
To the dividers: Yes, WE can.
To the doubters: Yes, we CAN.
I am most proud of my nation tonight.
