Hey! let's celebrate! It got all the way up to 18 degrees outside today! crap, it's cold. This is a good weekend for making chili and reading. Oh, who am I kidding-- I'm going to be glued to the Olympics like I've been every day this week. But anyone's welcome to get stop by and get some chili. Or some chile rellenos-- I might try to make those.
I'm going to a wedding of an old friend this weekend. I gotta get myself together & look halfway decent by Sunday morning. Suit? I don't know... probably. It's fun to play dress-up.
I listened to "Something in the Way of Things" by The Roots this morning. It blew my mind. It's like all the beatnik free verse with free jazz beneath it from back in the day, or the spoken-word rants with turntablist undertrack that go on today. Except that it's poignant and self-unaware, which (in my book) makes it better than a lot that I've heard on Def Poetry or vintage vinyl cast-offs.

And a quote, to finish it off:
I have learned to be wary of the Mainstream Media.
