That said, I have to say he's not helping himself recently. In nominating Miers, didn't he say "trust me"? Now, when the senate asks what they talked about while she worked for him, he says "I'm not going to turn that over to you." Sure, she was his legal counsel, so they may have some private issues that don't need to be out in the public. But how are we suppposed to trust someone who doesn't give any evidence that he's trustworthy? Someone who actually gives evidence that maybe he's not in the most upright company (*cough*Libby*cough*Rove*)? Come on.
Here's a nice, brief article about the Miers sitch as this week starts.
This isn't a political blog, so that's all I'm going to say about that.
Also, I signed up for a thing about Sudan a while ago, and now I get all these progressive, human-compassion emails: "Sign this and help dry off the dripping wet children in Coldlandia". Fine-- I care enough to click on a few links.
Then today I got one for something happenning in my own state! Someone cares about Colorado! I'm voting for these referenda, so you know I care. I like education. I like roads. I like hospitals. I'm voting for C & D.

I've got work to do. Seacrest out.
Happy United Nations Day!

politics are for fags. just kidding. by fags i mean frequently agitated gentlemen settlers (of colorado), just so no one takes offense.
i agree that people often call bush an idiot. although i don't think highly of his politics, the guy went to yale. i don't care how he got in, i can't imagine that they would have graduated him without some merit. it's too bad that strategerie can't be more eloquent, as i wonder if we would think more highly of him of such were the case.
i also agree that this miers (myers?) debacle doesn't look good. "trust me" is never enough to confirm a supreme court justice, no matter how trustworthy the person is. maybe jesus might convince me on that one, but short of him, you've got to show me why you should be on the most powerful court for the rest of your life. and frankly, cronism seems to reign supreme in this day and age.
So, in support of Bush not being intelligent:
Some poeple are starting to say he nominated her knowing she would not be confirmed and that the base would get pissed that she is not openly ultra-conservative. Then he can come back with a second nomination. With the nomination he can go ultra-conservative and claim that he had tried to nominate someone mainstream but the dems didn't have the balls to back her.
If that is the case, it goes to show that he's not the idiot people think he is. I actually think he's pretty intelligent and has wisely allowed people to think he didn't know whats up.
Yes, I've also heard this theory a few times. If he pulls it off, it would be a bright light in his dark days. Either way he wins. He either gets the crony or he gets the hannity.
