I know that I am meant for this world

The American Red Cross

There is a line in The Wizard of Oz where the Tin Man says

"Now I know I've got a heart -- 'cause it's
breaking"

That's how I feel these days. Everything seems so complicated and ripped apart, yet I live my life as if nothing is wrong. And when I think I'm fine, some piece of the world pokes in and I feel awful all over again. Then my normal life starts up again and I can't think about anything but myself until the next time everything becomes real all over again.

-------------------------
There were a few hitch-hikers on the road this weekend holding signs saying "hurricane survivors", but they were hitching east so I didn't believe their sign.

Either I'm cynical and those people needed help that I didn't give, or they were charlatans and I'm savvy, or both, or neither.

I'm sick of being cynical, but I don't want to be a sucker.

It's complicated.

-------------------------

George Bush doesn't care about black people

More news coverage of one American party-girl's disappearance than of the slaughter of untold thousands in Sudan

The president is about to poke a hole in the legal ozone layer (that's what moderates the earth from the extreme solar radiation-- it's a metaphor for reducing the ability of the Supreme Court to moderate the extremities of the Right)

Illegal immigration causes problems and keeps the nation running

-----------------------------------------
And the world is drawn into your hands
And the world is
etched upon your heart
And the world so hard to understand
Is the world you can’t live without

And I knew the silence of the world
