The Drive to Pueblo...

is just long enough for some self-absorbed musings. It started because suddenly everyone I know has a blog. and I heard someone say recently "Everyone has a right to be heard."

I think that's bunk.

Everyone has the right to speak. But to be heard involves someone else listening. And everyone has the right to ignore everyone else.
So nobody has the right to be heard.
Is this splitting hairs?
I think it's important to say what you mean. The words you use reflect a lot about the way you see the world.
I have the right to express myself. But I don't have the right to be heard/read/observed. I'm not entitled to your behavior. Don't read this if you don't want to. I'll be fine.

A man said to the universe:
"Sir I exist!"
"However," replied the universe,
"The fact has not created in me
A sense of obligation."

--------------------------------------
That's one of my all-time faves. Stephen Crane... yeah...

Music I've been listening to:
Calexico
Bright Eyes
Aaliyah (just a few songs)
Chach
The Horrorpops
Giant Sand
Johnny Cash's "The Matador"
and, of course, Los Straitjackets
